Kony 2012 & Westboro

I know as of now I have only one follower, thank you Shannon, I am hoping to get more, but for those of you who are looking for a quite short rant to pick you up through the day, here it is. I have officially deleted my facebook account permanently. Now to tell you why. People do not consider the consequences of their actions. The two things that have finished off my facebook account are the Kony 2012 support groups and the Westboro church protestors.

First Kony 2012, one of the co-founders speaking with a reported made this statement, "If you asked a teenager and an adult what Kony 2012 was, only the teenager would know".....Of course only the teenager would know because they are the only ones stupid enough to give money to a group that spent nearly nine million dollars of the thirteen and a half that was donated on expenses. Pardon me, but I am not going to donate my money so you can fly around the world and post things on the internet. Not to mention an organization that simply pocketed nearly three hundred thousand dollars in 2011 and gets privately audited every year to avoid such allegations. Don't get me wrong, in 1986 when Joseph Kony started all this, awareness should have been made, but now that he is no longer in Uganda and there are only maybe two hundred child soldiers left out of a peak of thirty thousand twenty six years later, why don't we all calm down. Not only are there a number of other organizations that you could donate to to aid relief in the Uganda area, these other organizations use almost all of the donations they raise to actually aiding the cause they support. Some examples include Africare, Children's Relief Mission, hell try UNICEF, remember that little box you carried around in middle school collecting coins? They all help and don't spend it on themselves. So use your brains when giving your money away. Giving to Kony 2012 is like giving your money to a man on wall street in a three thousand dollar suit rather than to child's leukemia.

Second, is the Westboro Baptist church and their vendetta against all things homosexual. However, my first concern is actually with those that show up to protest. Take a step back and think before you go paint a sign and intertwine two dildos and raise them in the air. The Westboro Baptist church is a monster, that feeds on the publicity and attention, if they didn't they would simply hate gays in the privacy of their own room in hell. Instead they create websites devoted to why they think God hates countries across the globe for their involvement and support in and of homosexuality, so why in the world would you show up and feed their flame and make them smile for playing their game? If no one paid any attention to them and the world turned their backs, they wouldn't have reporters to talk to, or shows to go on and they would have you to enrage at your rallies. I understand your desire to protest, trust me, I myself would love to see them burn in the hell that they claim so many are going to because the largest game of telephone in the world told them so. But think rationally and don't give them the desire they so desperately desire and instead hand them a sign in sheet for a mental hospital, why they haven't been admitted already is beyond me.

So why don't we all calm down, stop throwing away our money and stop feeding a flame that so desperately craves your attention. Thanks.

  1. They showed the Kony video to the people in Uganda and there were riots over the way it was filmed. They thought it would be a historical account, but it was really about fashion and a father and his son.
